Competition What happened to COMP D ???

Competition 160 pump goes 11.82

Finally decided to upgrade my suspension on the 07 mega. I've looked, read up on, called, talked to and drueled about a good usable upgrade suspension and decided to go with a system from Don Thuren. He asked many questions about driving conditions and styles to meet my needs. It's three to four weeks out and I can't wait. Western Wyoming desert here I come!

I'm very interested in your results. I have the KORE Chase and find myself wanting to re-vavle for my taste. KORE won't custom valve. They seem to think they know what's best for me. Don will custom valve. I'm thinking of getting some of his 2. 5 KINGS rather than re-valve my Fox 2. 0s. Keep up posted.

I'll keep you posted. The terrain here varies from mountain two tracks to wide open desert. I look forward to installing the system and trying it out. Don said 3-4 weeks and maybe a week for some powder coating.

Another big brown truck showed up with with front coils and rear packs. Got a shipping notice for hopefully the balance of parts yesterday. Oo.

I've been e-mailing D. Thuren about the same system. I'm leaning like Pisa toward it. Keep me informed about the difference in ride quality once yours is on. I'm not an off-roader, but my '05 longbed shook out my kidney stone ( no foolin' ) last week and I'm in pain from my humpty-bumpty ride. Good luck!

Ive ridden with Don at Glamis, Im shure youll love his stuff, as soon as i get the spare change im buying his kit :D

The last big brown truck showed up last Friday. Everything looks great. Very professional job on the fabbed parts. Just trying to schedule a day, a shop and a wire feed between work and travel. Don has been awesome to deal with even though he is extremely busy, he's returned every call and email.

Can't wait to get-er-done.

Finished the install today and took it for a ride and WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fit and finish of the parts was excellent. Zero issues with anything, kept expecting "Murphy" to visit and he did'nt. The parts Don fabbed were showroom quality. The bump stops required cutting off the factory cups and welding on an attachment plate. They work so well you honestly do not know they are there. Drove the truck about 30 miles in the dirt and it soaks up big dips and bumps very smoothly, exceeding expectations. It is unbelievable how well these big heavy trucks can handle when properly set up. I drove some two-track sections @ 45-50 mph I would'nt have attempted faster than 10-15 mph when the truck was stock. Can't wait to head out to some more serious country this weekend. Don was great to get back to me to answer some of my questions. He also offered to walk me through dialing in the alignment.

Don Thuren provides new technology with old fashioned quality and service. I could not be more pleased.

I'l try and get some pics this weekend. Make sure when you put in a new trac bar you add a little loctite. Steering went funny last night and I lost the bottom bolt attaching to the axle, could not figure out what went wrong. Found the bolt and was back on the road in no time with loctite. Checked the frame side and it was a bit loose also. Guess it's time for a better 1/2" rattle gun. :D

The sytem is still awesome barring my assembly brain farts. I find myself constantly looking for rougher roads where it really excells!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't say enough abouts the setup Don has put together for my needs.

Tighten the bolts as tight as possible. It happen to me not too long ago in a section out in the desert. Happen to look under my truck after the run and found the axle side trac bar bolt GONE:eek:. The trac bar shifted over a smidge and my trac bar mount nicked my coil bucket. No real carnage, but shows if off by a fraction. It can do some damage. :-laf

Don set me up with 2. 5 King's/custom valved, his shock towers, his trac bar, fox stabilizer, front coils, velvet bump stops, and rear mini packs. I already had a Kore stabilizer. Don made sure the coils, shocks, and mini packs were set up for my specific driving needs and conditions. You have to call him and he will ask many questions and put together a system to match your needs and conditions also.

I bought his trac bar and steering stabilizer kit about a year and a half ago. I'll say that he was very helpful on the phone and answered e-mails promptly as well. I'm quite satisfied with his products as they are a vast improvement over the stock items I replaced. The only complaint that I have is that I wish the trac bar length could be more easily adjusted on the vehicle. If he could incorporate an adjustment sleeve instead of needing to drop and turn the axle end, it would be perfect.
