that's right,i decided to go whole hog and bought myself an early christmas gift... an odyssey pc2150s group 31 deep cycle battery.

the sticker on the battery says 1370 ca and 1100 cca. can't complain! well, i can complain about the cost but it should last a lot longer than a regular battery. here's a link if you're interested...

merry christmas everyone! enjoy your time with family and friends!

cheers,

Been looking into that battery also. Let us know how it works out for you. Also how much did you pay for it? When I looked into it it was around 300 and then 75 to ship from california to florida.

I'll second Deka. I've had them on both of mine and they hold up very well. Can't beat the high CCA. I've gotten both of mine at NAPAs.

I believe the specs for the Deka are 1260 CA and 1125 CCA. I paid $82. 00 for mine, but had some trouble finding a local distributor.

Hmmm... .

The Odyssey seems like one h... of a battery with lots of CCA and a deep-cycle curve to boot. The extended-life claim also sounds good.

Other batteries I'm familiar with are non-deep-cycle with similar CCA. The Deka looks like it falls in that slot along with my $75 Carquests.

If my Cummins doesn't start in the first revolution, something's wrong. Doesn't seem that I need any crank after crank after crank needs.

So why is the Odyssey so desirable? The extended-life claim?

I'll chime in and say that the single Optima red top I have has been fine so far and it's starting it's third New England winter.

It's a sealed battery (gel maybe) and so far it's the only battery I have ever had that doesn't show any corrosion aound the terminals.
