I Have a 6. 7 07. 5 auto. I get black on my fender. I useto get the same thing with my 04. 5 HO But I thought the 6. 7 would burn cleaner. I dont have smoke that I can see and it runs smooth. why do I get the black on the fender?

And is this black going to cloug the DPF?

Thanks

Dave

If your engine is factory stock it should not emit black smoke. I don't have a fender to see soot on but I don't see it on the side of my fifth wheel.

How often to you wash the truck??

I just got it, It was washed the day i got it and after 100 miles it was showing up with black on the fender.

It is bone stock with no engine lite. and like i said it burns clean Like i cant see any smoke I just get black on my white fender.

smoked up too.

Mine has done the same thing since about 4 or 5 k Miles. Black exhaust pipe, black on fender. Dealer isn't savvy enough to help. Service rep politely explained that diesels smoke so it's normal. I just keep running it. 07. 5, 6. 7 with 40,000 on the clock. No error codes so dealer thinks I'm nuts. Oh well.

took it in today the diesel tech said normal, he feels it may be a bit extra do to the first owner not running it as hard as i do. thinks it will slow down once i tow heavy. im taking it back monday so they can turn on the winter idle. he said it will fall under the emission warranty and that if it gets worse they will check into it. but he didnt think it was a cracked DPF. I filled it up today 10. 52 MPG about the same as my Ford was I hope it gets better in the summer if not i may need to look into what I can do to make it better.

if the dealer won't fix it, first contact chrysler, using the number in the owners manual. if that doesn't work. i hate saying it... . contact the epa. to get the dealership to honor the federaly mandated emissions. which are supposted to be under warrenty for 100,000 miles on our trucks...

the inside of the new diesels tailpipe should be cleaner than a gas rigs tailpipe.

mine only has rust and dirt in it... no black at all... .

well I dont know if i have an issue, I put my finger in the pipe and it does get a little black on it but it is not like it is heavy soot.
