Black plastic band on tail gate

Hey every one, just wondering who might know why some dodge trucks have the black plastic band on the outside of the tail gate. My first truck had this and my second one did not, I don't remember seeing it as an options either. Not losing sleep at night, but was just wondering what it's for.

2-wheel vrs 4-wheel drive

Here is one of those questions that have probably been asked a thousand times, but I've got to know. I had a 2001 CTD two wheel drive and traded it in for a 2001 CTD four wheel drive truck. My question is my new truck seems much slower that the two wheel drive truck. Is this because of weight difference or is it something else I don't know about?

The plastic trim was eliminated on newer rigs so that DC could make more money.

Weight is one issue. You are now also supplying power through at transfer case, in 4wd or not. You have another set of gears in the front differential that is turning (although only 1/2 turning in 2wd).



Is your 4wd geared the same as your 2wd was. Gearing could make a huge difference. And the tires on your 4wd are larger than your 2wd (most likely) so even if your gears are the same, the effective gearing has changed.
