Black Tube on side of the engine

Looking from underneath the truck on the drivers side of the oil pan is a large black tube approx 1" in dia, open on the end with what looks like oil residue on it or on the inside of it. Can anyone tell me what this is and does it require maintenance? Thanks in advance.

Im thinking that might be your blowby tube. If it is it you will see some oil on it. On the earlier gerneration Engines it was clear.

That's what it is. It's an ongoing source of oil spots on your garage floor.
