Since bringing my truck home and installating my hitch I've noticed a new spider web from the frame to the driveway every morning. I recall thinking while I was installing the hitch that the steel box frame looked like a good spider collector. The morning spider webs were suggestive of a common "orb-weaver" so I didn't pay much attention to it. Last night I went out after dark to get a picture of the "orb-weaver". What I found was a good sized black widow. I gave her a shot of wasp spray and she crawled back up in the frame. This morning she was sleeping so I dug her out with a stick. I'd had my fingers in the frame holes while installing my hitch and just brushed the webs out of the way. Black widows aren't deadly to most healthy people but they will make you sick for about five days with very bad flu like symptoms. They like dark hiding places and for whatever reason like steel. Something to keep in mind with our new box steel frames. I have a couple of pics if someone wants to see.

Hmmm. Another frame issue huh? :D :D :D

I wouldn't mind seeing the pictures. They are after all, truck related. We don't have them this far north.

I helped some friends move a long time ago and when they took their water bed apart they found a black widow in the corner between the frame and the mattress at the head end of the bed. He said that he often had to brush the "cob webs" out of the way, but never thougt much about it.

And you should be happy about that!

Down here in SE VA we check twice before we stick our fingers in anywhere! Cable guy was by here the other week, he fishes them out of cable boxes and keeps them for pets!

A skaggle of spiders!

My grandpa had a subterranian glass-roof greenhouse over in Walla Walla and a couple years after he quit using it the place was invaded by Black Widows. When I opened the door one time I counted 18 of them in the walkway alone! Talk about sending a chill down an arachnaphobe's spine!

which one?

It must be either a terrorist plot or a warranty issue. I'd guess plot, Dodge would never see what a safety issue this appears to be.

Come on Vaughn, confess, you used spell check on the BIG word, didn't you?:D ;)

Might be an illegal alien. May have come across the border in your frame. You might want to notify Homeland Security, or at least the Border Patrol. They may be one and the same now, I have a hard time keeping up.

While installing my pyro probe today I noticed more spider webs under the truck. I worked around them and finished with the installation. Tonight I went out with a flashlight, a stick and my trusty Sony Mavica FD92. There were two brown widows this time. They aren't quite as dangerous as the black widow but will still make you very sick for about 5 days. They have the same red hourglass on their abdomen. I put her in a jar for awhile to play show and tell and then read her her rights... Maybe I'll name my new truck The Widow Maker.

I notice you have the SLT pkge. This is one bit of optional equipment I hope DC doesn't include in my Laramie pkge. Do not want it and definitely do not need it. If it was my truck I would have it fumigated. Pete

I did that on the way back from the airport today. The wife wasn't too happy about it.

Oddly enough, I find spiders and snakes fascinating. If it were a big ol red palmetto bug (American cockroach), I wouldn't get under there until it was dead and out of there. Those things make my skin crawl. Eeeesh!
