NV4500 Rebuild questions

I know that I am not the only one!!

Has anyone else been informed of a price increase from $17. 00 to $18. 00 per sample.

What happened to the TDR discount with them??

Who is a very reputable analysis company??

We do a lot of samples each month, and it is getting to be an expensive proposition to deal with Blackstone any longer.

Not that it is really their fault, but my oil sample that I mailed to Blackstone 3 weeks ago, never showed up! :{ :{ Good old USPS... :mad: It's floating around somewhere in la la land. :{

I use my local Cummins service center. $15 per sample. You can buy the kits and mail them in, you do not have to go there to have it analyzed.

My local Cummins NW charges $9.

IMO Blackstone is a rip-off, high price doesn't even include TBN.

Friend of mine is using one of the by pass filter companies service, can't remember the name but will find out. You pay $60 in advance for ten samples.

One of the best places i have found is:

Post Laboratory

1380 zuni st.

PO box 4567

Denver Co 80204

1-800-442-1825

the oil sample kit is 6-8$ sometimes they give us free ones if/when we buy the valvoline premium blue. we ship them US mail about a 1. 75$ shipping. very fast turn around. If they find something very wrong with the oil sample they will call you, right away.

(no affiliation just a happy customer)

HMMmmm - Blackstone was at the ragged edge of pricing vs results as far as I was concerned - if they've raised prices, guess I'll be looking elsewhere for my next tests - too bad too, since I had sorta established a baseline with them... :(

. From Blackstone Lab web site -

"Surprisingly inexpensive! is the answer. We can provide all of the above for just $20. 00 (U. S. ) per sample. "

So it looks like your getting a 10% discount

The guys with the ten tests for $60 is http://www.oilrite.com/

Doesn't say anything about analysis on the their site, might have to email them.

I've seen their reports, very complete with recommendations, they will email you a warning if anything is way out of whack and also have a toll free number if you need help interrupting the results

Well Let see,Castrol,Fleetguard,Caterpillar are some more. We use Castrol at work and have a 3 day turn around. Their is different results from different labs. some of the tests will read a little off from one to the other.

P. S. Guess The reason for the name 'Catoiler"
