I'm looking for help in trying to interpret my first oil anaylsis. I sent the oil to Blackstone with 10K on the truck, 3300 miles on the oil (no make-up added). No extended idling.
Blackstone reported 3% fuel in oil (with <2% quoted as "normal"), and a flashpoint of 385 degrees ("normal" cited as >415). SUS viscosity was 77. 1 (68-78 nl) and no antifreeze or water was found.
With this level of fuel contamination - should I begin a diagnostic evaluation of the fuel system (injectors/seals) OR should I chalk it up to engine break-in (ring seating) and recheck the oil in another 3-5k? The truck seems to be running fine - no obtrusive knocks, pings, etc. Fuel mileage has been in the 16-18 mpg range (split city and highway).
I don't want to neglect a potentially serious problem, however I don't want to over-react to this either.
I very much appreciate any input or thoughts. Thank you.
