Since we are in Elkhart, IN we took a day trip to FortWayne, IN to Blackstone to hand deliver my oil sample. They are a bunch of really nice people there. Maggie showed us around and even stuck my sample in the "HOT" area to be tested ASAP. Once back in the Lab the wife and I were shown what the equipment does and how it works, very cool!

My 15 RAM had about 15,200 miles on the truck the oil had about 12,300 miles on it. Oil is 15-40 AMZ/OIL 100% synthetic, filter was FleetGuard Stratapore.

I would change at 3,000 intervals so you can spend some more quality time with your truck. Make sure to let it drain over night.

I would change it at 7500 miles and check it again, some of those numbers are high, and as mentioned by Blackstone, could be because of the interval. While it is a completely different animal, here is the lifelong report for my 2001 truck, for comparison.

That is probably a good suggestion, thanks!

In my opinion I see no problems. They're averages are somewhat irrelevant *since they are basing their numbers on oil that's gone half the distance you went. There are so many variables involved it's hard to define what is "average". *I get my analysis done through Schaeffers and they don't post averages.*

They called your interval a "long run", I wonder if they are aware of the service intervals on the 13+ trucks.*

There is more than one Amsoil 15/40 full synthetic. They have the regulat duty which is for normal length oil runs. And there is the heavy duty designed for longer runs. Do you know which you are using? I think the HD is $1-$1.50 more per quart?

I wondered the same, I may call them to clarify.

I am running the DME CJ-4 15-40 100% Synthetic. The most expensive stuff!

GS have you tested since?
I have not. Seems like a few of the last few oil changes I've gotten home in such a rush that I either simply forgot or just didn't take the time to capture enough for a sample. I have about 11,400 miles currently since my last change, and since the truck now has 148k on it, I'll try to make a more valiant effort to send off a sample.

That would be interesting to see your results with you working your truck and having that many miles.
Although I've only sampled the '14 twice, I did find something else interesting....

I logged onto BlackStone earlier this evening and found a sample from my 2007.5 RAM 3500 MegaCab 4x4.
It's very interesting to the results of a pre-DEF 6.7L as compared to a DEF 6.7L.
Perhaps someone with more savvy in relation to oil analysis can interject what they see.
My observations :
Aluminum, iron, copper, molybdenum, potassium, and magnesium have fairly large increases with the '14. Copper was a huge difference, along with magnesium. Calcium was way lower on the '14.
Granted.....the 2007.5 was sampled at a low 11,740 miles.
