This is only the second time I have changed the fuel filter and last time I did not bleed the system. I am changing it today and have found that I need to bleed the system. How do I do this? When priming the new filter do I need to leave it loose or tighten it up and then hit the plunger a couple of times?

Thanks

If air hasnt gotten to the injector pump yet, I just loosen the banjo nut on the top of the fuel filter (the line that carries filtered fuel to the injector pump). Then push the plunger till you see fuel at the nut. Then retighten nut. If air is in the injector pump you will need to crack the nuts at each injector and crank the engine to bleed. Carefull they say the pressure will cause personal injury.

One last fyi Many times after you hace blead 2 or 3 injectors the engine will start. If you have an injector line open when it starts it could be dangerous.
