How do I bleed the fuel system when changing the filter? Do I need the leave the canister loose and then hit the plunger or tighten it down?

just put it back together and pump it about 50 times. usually you will hear a squealing sound while pumping. once you hear that it should fire.

it may run rough for a few seconds, just give it enough throttle to keep it running until it cleans out.

After the filter is tightened open the bleed screw on top of the filter housing and pump away till bubble free fuel flows. Using an old broom handle will save your thumb. Your engine may run rough for a minute or so but will clear up.
