HX40-16 on E-Bay

Well, 4 hours, 14 beers, and $140 later, my CON OFE is on the way to Southbend, to get repaired... I was on the way to work yesterday, and all of a sudden, lost power... . had to get Kernel to pull me back to the house, where I am now confined to a Chevy Z71 Gasser..... Its better than nothing, but I want my Billy goat back! Woody at SBC was totally cool about it, and helped me out alot! so now, I am just awaiting it's sweet return! I MISS MY HP GETTING TO THE GROUND!!!!

less than 10k, one 1/8 mile race, and the other just pulling, using my truck the way it was designed to be. from the #'s I put in on a site, I am getting 540. 6 HP at the flywheel... . but that's not true dyno... .

Chris,

I received your clutch this morning and called you first thing to discuss some things with you. I did not get a call back and time was running short for shipping. From your post I can see that a day without your truck is like a day without sunshine. :D So I shipped it back to you red label saturday delivery so look for it tomorrow before noon.

Now, for the clutch... . In case I don't get to talk to you personally, I noticed that the clutch was completely oil soaked. Then, I read your other thread on the flywheel and saw that you have a seal problem in the transmission, so now I know where the oil came from. Congratulations, you are our first person to break our new reinforced, 12 1/4" disk. That was the main reason for our call. I have got these disks in some pretty stout applications without this kind of damage. The organic material on the clutch disk was burned severely. I wanted to talk to you about going to the 13" design but the more I thought about the abuse the disk has taken, there may be other factors to think about. If the front seal on the transmission is leaking this may conclude that the front bearing on the transmission is worn which would have a direct effect on the dampened portion of the clutch disk through oscillation. I would highly recommend putting a new front bearing in the transmission when you replace the seal. The burning, or charred part of the clutch has me a bit concerned. The only way that you can get the clutch to this temperature is to slip it. I think you said the clutch had never slipped on acceleration so it has to be on an engagement. This can only be caused by super heavy loads or lots of drag racing. Nothing was repairable so we sent you a brand new one. You beat the snot out of this thing ;) and if you didn't and it was normal driving, I feel you need to look into the truck a bit further to see what might have caused this to happen.

If you have any immediate questions over the weekend you can reach me at home at 574-277-0653. Other then that we'll be back in the shop bright and early Monday morning.

peter,

I am way impressed with your con OFE in my '01 6 speed.

I did the pull at pahrump in 02 and I pulled 232' without slipping. .

I looked at my stock clutch when I replaced it and I swear it looks like a toyota clutch!! slipped in 10K and only a Blu-chip 4 wire box. WEAK!

So I am proud to say your ConOFE is still going strong and I rented a couple of trailers and towed with it. Never a problem.

I recomend your clutches to all I see that say they need a new clutch.

Keep it up man.

That's why nobody will badmouth your clutches

Top notch service. I still remember the first time I talked to Peter. He tried to talk me out of a clutch. It worked for 8 months :D until my stock clutch grenaded on me.

How many other vendors would post their own home phone

number in a public forum like this, and tell a customer to call them

at home over the weekend if they had any concerns over a

product????

Once again showing us what customer service and great

products are all about :D

Peter & South Bend Clutch - a great combination!!!!
