I recently installed a Co-pilot and was doing some experimenting and a couple days after install a 3/4 throttle launch busted my second gear bands and i no longer have 2nd. Does anyone know what brand of bands are strong enough to use to alieviate my problem?

so this is an ATS stage V transmission? what band would be better than they already put in it? I am not sure there would be anything better. Are you sure that is what happened?

the transmission had the vb torque converter and billet input shaft in it. the company i had install the parts said they used heavy duty bands and servo's i didn't buy the whole transmission from ATS. Just the main parts to make it stage V

Good question. If not and you used the 5. 0 lever and good band but stock strut, it may have bent and fell out of its home. Did you pull the pan off yet?

the transmission shop looked it over and said the band just broke. They also said the TC had a chunk missing out of the seal on the input shaft so I talked to ATS and they said i could trade my transmission and stuff i have now for all new and go with the 5 star converter. Probably going to end up doing that since it won't cost me much different than having the shop labor and stuff anyways. Raybestos said they only have seen one other band break so the transmission shop is sending it to them for inspection. I told them what HP and torque i was making and they said it really shouldn't have broke anyways. ATS also said the band was a quality one and should have held up.

The stock strut was used and should have asked more questions before this so I could have got the HD strut.

So does that mean no rebuild? Just send them your transmission, and you get a new one?

cause thats KILLER - sledpulls here we come, PS - left a message about that flexplate

I have to pay for the upgrade torque converter and i have to pay for swapping the transmission probably the labor ATS has in it. Lesson learned is make sure every little part is upgraded so you don't have to pay for it later. The billet strut is around a 30 dollar part so are the bands and it is costing me much more now.

yea it should have lasted... . but you sound like you are hard on you transmission's not a good or bad thing but for those who are this way it best to billitize from the beginning
