I was drivin the other day and had to come to a quick stop for a yellow light. I was stopping fine then pissss VERY LITTLE BRAKES!! I was lucky no one was in front of me, I went half way out into the intersection. Anyway... I limped it home and parked it (it was dark so I couldn't see). The next day I went out an saw a huge puddle of brake fluid under the rear by the fuel tank. I investigated and found the hard line right before where it turns to rubber had rusted so bad that it allowed the pressure of the fluid to cut through it. So I checked the rest of the line all the way up to the combination block and found it to be very rusted as well  . I ended up replacing the whole line all the way back. I called the dealer to see if they had a replacement line, but they told me they just get it in 25ft lengths and have to bend it and flare it, so it was cheaper if I went to Autozone... so I did. I bled the brakes and so on, good to go. This made me think about all the other lines on the truck including fuel lines and other metal lines. They are all very rusty!!! This truck is a very clean truck, the frame still has factory paint as do the axles and the rest of the underside. This is why I was surprised to fine all these lines rusted to hell. Do yourself your family your friends and other drivers on the road a favor CHECK YOUR LINES!!!!

its a 1997... I know almost 10 years old, but the truck is clean for its age! I guess I need to put my signature on my post

Had the same thing happen to me in my 94 last year, only I was towing my 14,000 pound fifth wheel at about 70 mph, coming up on stopped traffic  Well, after some evasive maneuvers and possibly being on two wheels I got it over to the shoulder... cleaned out my shorts and called for a tow. I guess we both got lucky by not hitting anyone.
