Walcott,

TST ate my turbo too!! BUT it was a B1 :D . My turbo lasted 2-days and I only used 9-9 ONCE. It was on the freeway and I punched it at 70 mph. The only other setting I used when I got on it was 6-6 and I gave it 3/4 throttle at 40 mph.

You and Jim might wanna check your oil. My motor was a quart over full... ... w/ DIESEL fuel after I took the box off!!!

On another note see you guys this summer, I'll be movin' down there

i have read enough on the TDR to realize that i am taking risks when i BOMB my engine. to increase HP and torque by 50 to 100% or more beyond stock, and still be surprised when a part breaks is regretable.

there is no doubt that i would be extremely disapointed if this happened to my truck, but it is the risk we take. i would definately try and figure out why this happened, so it doesn't happen again.

can we please analyze this problem scientifically, and keep the emotions to a minimum. we will all hopefully learn from this, and all be the better for it.

walcott, please let us know the following:

did you happen to notice the boost pressure when the turbo blew?

what turbo did you have on?

did you stack the TST with the EZ?

how many miles on your truck and/or turbo?

TIA and sorry you had this problem.

just trying to learn

Mark told me during their testing they had a pressure gauge in the exhaust manifold and they saw backpressure as high as 100 psi in the exhaust manifold. I don't know what setting that was or even if the box they are marketing is capable of it without some help but it's definitely food for thought.

Blake,I was at Kenny's shop on sat(Turbo auto diesel),when i told him i was going to try the tst he cringed and told me to be careful as lots of turbos are being eaten by the box. He told me of one fella in Texas, killed his turbo while running tst. B-1 doa

Alan. . sorry you lost it... see ya at MM

guys forget sometimes what the old days of FYI's were about . . sure seams like we have lost somp'in here IMHO

sure glad I don't have one of those confound new ones dag nabit LOL

wow,

well, nothing seems unusual from what you have there.

could it be, the stock turbos just cant tolerate much more than stock?

i am not sure what to ask next.

any further thoughts walcott?

this has my full attention, since the TST was tops on my list for my 04. 0. i have been waiting to see how well the trucks already BOMBed tolerated the boxes.

once again, sorry for the problems and good luck.

Jim,

I've had the ezee box on for sometime,I have raced the truck in Phx. ,Salt Lake,Denver,Vegas,Tucson with good results, didn't seem like i could hurt it!

First post for me!!! A friend of mine with the TST box hits 50 lbs of pressure quickly with his truck. Ridiculous what the chip will do, especially with some drilled out injectors!!! Needed a clutch too of course. :)

First post for me too. I have TST stacked with Edge EZ on lvl 4 and run TST on 4/4 or 6/4 with DD's Jammer turbo and hit the wastegate at 40 lbs fast, but haven't had any problems. I honestly don't think there is a single turbo on the market right now that can handle TST's 6-9 levels.

Well the problem with the turbo blowing is the TST box. That box spools sooo hard soo fast. It just spins that shaft in half. Its not turbo bark like the 12v's and 24v's. That common rail with the TST just comes on real hard, which is cool, just need to build a turbo set-up thats going to hold.

Alan. . don't know if Mark aka HOSS is going to bring it down. . he is in the learning stages with it and wants to do it proud. . so better to ask him. . Nice Guy also !

I'll see him at a sled pull in Southern Oregon on the last weekend of the month and ask [if I don't remember to ask him on the NWB site]

Walcott; anytime I see a post "vendor so-and-so" did "such-and-such" I have doubts! My reaction was that it's how you drove it you shouldn't take personal -- heck; that doesn't mean you're a bad driver; you drove it hard like most of us do! And yeah; I've broken stuff too! It's an implication thing; there's been quite a-lot of posts from folks who seem to think you can upgrade power then go hammer on it and everything's going to hold together. Apparently you're not in that class; so I apologize!

For the newbies (primarily) we need to start preaching the "you are your own warranty station" and "pay to play" again.

That box does spool the turbo amazingly fast; even on 3/3. If I punch it it's at max boost for my setup instantly.

You'll be at May Madness? I'll buy the first beer!

I agree

Big Mak,

I was simple telling the facts,I did not slam tst as i know Mark,I believe he has done much good for the diesel industry. If you look at the end of my post it says BE CAREFUL. If someone can benefit from information it's benefical thing!I will buy the 2 round after dyno's at Maymaddness!!
