I was at Napa picking up exhaust parts for the 01 and while I was there I asked about a block heater cord for a 2006 ram. All they could find was a kit with the actual coil heater, and plug P/N 6051575 (NAPA) for $97. 09

I was under the impression that the heater was already installed and all you needed was the power cord... . whas up with that?

Even on dodge's site it says "block heater is standard equipment on diesels"

Factory Dodge accessory kit $183. 00 :

Diesel Engine Cold Weather Kit: includes 2 battery blankets, front-end cold weather grille cover and battery blanket/engine block heater wiring harnesses (note: engine block heater is standard on all diesel engines)

P/N 82208721

I cant direct link it but here is what you do Click below on mopar.com:

Mopar - Authentic Performance, Accessories, Service & Parts THEN:

Accessories- Dodge- Ram2500 - Lighting & Electrical + Electrical Accessories > Engine Block Heaters and Battery Blankets

Seems to me the dodge kit is worth the money for what you get!!

any info on this guys OR does anyone have this kit?

Thanks

Ian

The block heater is already in your 06. It is located on the block right next to the oil filter. It is a short fitting that has a cover on it. The truck doesn't come with the cord. I just bought one from Genos. Can simply install cord from under the truck and route it to the front.

Thanks

I went to napa for a price on the cord but the only part number they had was for the whole shebang. do you have the P/N for the cord from genos?

thanks bud!

Ian

Ian,

I installed that kit last Fall. It works good. It comes with a new harness that has the battery warmers hookup built in with the block heater harness. I paid about $145.

I checked NAPA about a week ago and just the cord was $50. 00. I went on Ebay and bought the same cord for $20. 00.

PS When you get the cord, check the area where the heater pins go into. There sometimes is a little bit of the orange rubber on the brass contacts.

Also MUCH easier to install it with the turbo intake tube removed.

Here is the link... . Same guy I bought from... . NICE CORDS!

Heater plug

I had the same results from Napa about a year ago. The sales guy was so rude, I simply swore off his store. Haven't bought a thing there since. I went to a local Cummins shop and went around to the parts dept. $25 bucks and they threw in 3 "Cummins" emblems for free. Real nice and it gave me some insight to the Cummins generator.

Wish you much success. Stay away from THAT Napa store. My local Napa store is great, just not the one that is on my way home.

Thanks guys!!!!!

Its a couple young punks working at the NAPA store... its either them or the "AUTO VALUE" where you get 2 grumpy old guys who think they know everything but are completely freekin stupid when it comes to diesels. So its like playing russian roulette... "know it all's" OR "dont know jack S____"

The Napa was A LOT cheaper for the exhaust parts so I ended up there. Ill probably go with geno's garage since there isnt a Cummins store for 100+ miles!#@$%!

Thanks again guys!

Ian

if you get the mopar cold front kit, it comes with the cord. The kit is well worth it. I sold the battery blankets and cord to another member.

I purchased the block heater cord from my dealer. It had the clips on it also.

I have the "wigidigit" connection from GenosGarage.com also.

For the batteries (they came with blankets already), I wired a 12 volt receptacle and mounted under front bumper and trickle charge the battery. It warms the batteries and charges.

So far so good. This will be my 2nd winter of owning a diesel (CTD).

Fleetguard Block Heater Cord

Fleetguard Block Heater Cord P/N 251919. Should be able to pick it up at a Cummins Distributor location for about $10. If you can't find one let me know and you can paypal me and I will send you one!
