I have an 06 2500. I have towed 13k without any problems. Today I plugged in the block heater for the first time and within an hour coolant was leaking from the right side of the engine and dripping off of the transmission. I don't understand why the heater triggered the leak. After I unplugged it, no problem. Has anyone seen this before?

Are you sure the leak was related to the heater?? Where was the coolant coming from... if it was the heater, it should be dripping from the block near the oil filter...

If it is the heater that is leaking; remove the cord and tighten the heater into the block snuggly.

That should cure it.

you know as i read that post i thought about if Cummins and DC are pushing to fast on these engines to get them to market, i would rather them take their time then rush on something like that. I mean i know each has their standards and quality control but could it be the men and women working and building these engines are being put under the gun in order to get them out the door as quickly as possible... Just a thought...

Hope you find the leak and get it fixed, sometimes it just takes a caring hand to put the final touches on something great, like the Cummins engine. Oo.

Maybe they need to transfer the oil filter gorilla over to doing the block heaters! :-laf :-laf :-laf

Leak

When I got my '03, the block heater was not screwed in that tight and leaked, and there were a number of threads about it. Seems like this same problem creeps up now and again.
