I plugged in my block heater cord for the first time, and put external power to it and left it over night. In the morning when I went out I expected my truck to be fairly warm. I checked the coolant temp and it was sitting at 109 deg F. There wasn't really any warm air coming out of the vents when I turned the heat on either. Just curious what temp the block heater should go up to, and if 109 degrees is normal, or if my block heater/cord is malfunctioning.

I have a 2012 Ram 2500 6. 7L

thanks

I have heard reports of various temps from the block heater, but I believe 70 degrees or so is normal. Depending on the ambient temps you may or may not notice hot ai right away, but the warm-up speed difference is significantly faster.

When I don't use the block heater on cold days my truck's heater may think about putting out heat after four or five miles. If I use the block heater I can feel some heat after a half mile.

The best part about the engine heate is the fact that after starting in cold weather the intake heater grid doesn't cycle - - - easier on the batteries
