Is it possible to buy just the block heater cord or is it necessary to buy the cord and heater element as a kit? My element checks out OK but the cord from the plug to the connection to the element has a broken wire. Price quote at Lordco for the kit was $C53.
Doesn't go very far below freezing here, still it does help with a quicker warm up if plugged in for an hour before departure to work.
Thanks.

Ian if your cord still has the original molded plug on it, try replacing that first. Mine only lasted a few winters before it broke, and I just wired on a new plug and so far this one is still going. I think the cord assembly is available from the dealer.

Neil, thanks for the tip re the plug, never thought about it, although it does get a work out when plugging in or disconnecting. Will get the cord out tomorrow and check for obvious damage, then try a plug replacement.
Thanks again.
