Does anybody know where I might be able to find one of these?

My '04 Ram didn't come with a block heater cord. This (as others have said) was a cost savings for Dodge. It was cold this morning (17*) and my truck almost didn't turn over.

I've called dealers in New Mexico and Colorado and have found that this is a national back-order part right now. The part number I got from my dealer was 5086737-AB.

Anybody know where some of these may be available?

Does anybody have a wiring diagram that may be useful in (temporarily) making my own cord?

Thanks for the help.

P. S. I know 17* isn't all THAT cold (I used to live in the Colorado Rockies), but try telling that to a Mexican Dodge!

is the plug for the block heater the same standard type used by most all block heaters? if so, just go to a parts store and buy a engine block heater power cord.

If the block heater is the same as years past it is a standard cord. A good auto parts store should have one although perhaps not in New Mexico. They could also be found on tractors or something of the sort.

I need to look at an '03. I am failiar with the 2nd gen - it was just a standard HD 3 wire plug. I have been told on the 3rd gen trucks that there is a plug somewhere on the radiator frame that is used for the heaters.

As you might imagine, I'm somewhat leery about putting 110VAC on the wrong wires in my truck!

Before you install the cord make sure your heater is screwed in tight. There have been several here report loose heaters. My self included, it was leaking a little and was about hand tight.

The 03's have a cord already on the heater. The cord is tied up on the radiator frame and can be routed out to the front for use. The "plug" on the radiator frame is the standard 110VAC 3wire plug that you are used to. My understanding was that the 04's didn't have a cord attached to the block heater at all. Check the block heater (in a soft plug hole under the exhaust manifold) and see if it has a cord attached.
