Just plugged in my new truck for the first time and not sure if it is working.

On my 06 you could hear it working shortly after plugging in, but after 2 hrs I don't hear anything.

Nothing seems warm so I checked the outlet and cord and they are ok.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply!

Since it only has 400 miles on it I'll swing by the dealer tomorrow to check it .

I did notice when I unplugged it from the wall outlet there was a spark (my 06 did this sometimes too) so I think current was flowing.

I'm just not sure that it is heating.

My Wife's 2015 Black Out had the block heater cord on the truck and mounted, however,it was not connected to the element on the Motor.
Simple twist of the block heater element cap, slid the plug in and twisted it tight and it has been fine ever since.I still have not figured out why it was missed during prep of the truck at the dealers.

My truck doesn't make the cooking noise like my '05 did when it was plugged in. I thought it wasn't working either. After being plugged in all night in near zero cold it starts right up with no pre-heat delay and the heater blows warm air right away.

It works, just doesn't make any noise.

Dieselnerd that is what the dealer said.

I plugged it in for tonight and since it will be below zero I should have my answer by 5 am tomorrow.

Gsbrockman I can see the where it is attached on the block and to an untrained eye like mine it looks ok.

We need to make a list that says:

If you owned a 3rd gen and now own a 4th gen the following things you knew about your 5.9 is changed on your 6.7:

1) The block heater no longer makes a "cooking" sound when plugged in
2)

I didn't think mine was working. No noise on plug in. Check your EVIC for the coolant temperature. I believe mine was 80* the other morning when the outside temp was 14 and wind chill was 0. The EVIC temp should give you a clear indication as to whether or not it is working.

That's too easy.

I know. The 80* is probably why it doesn't sizzle any more. They must have cut back on the heat. I will have to check it again to see what the temp is next time I plug in. I looked at the oil temp and the coolant temp that morning and may have confused them. All I know is, that it was blowing warm air a lot faster than if I don't plug in. My 2015 doesn't heat up nearly as fast as my 2011 did on really cold mornings.

Well last night it was 13 below and the truck started without the usual grid heater wait and the truck warmed up much quicker than when I did not plug in.

So for me at least it works without the cooking sizzle sound that my 06 made. :)

Dfitzwater maybe your truck sizzles because it is minus 50 where you are and that is the sound of the ice cracking in the block  (hope not).

Man I like this new truck! Heated steering wheel is amazing on these cold mornings.Oo.
