I just noticed a weird noise coming from the passenger side of my truck / engine. Sounds like ( air / or / a coffee pot) thats been plugged in too long.

Block heater is plugged in and working. Has been since 2:30 pm

I now have 184,000 miles and i've never heard it before. Do I need to check or replace the block heater?

You will hear that noise when it starts to heat the water just around the element. No problems.

Mine did it since new, then stopped this year mysteriously. Unit checks out okay - it just stopped making noise. Very weird.

For peace of mind, check the resistance across the heater. Should be roughly 18 - 20 ohm.
