Paid my $40 to local dealet for heater cord :-{} ! Local cummins couldn't figure out which cord for the 04. 5. Won't be going back there. (actually won't send wife back there) Put cord on a timer (one hour before I leave) and I'm loving mornings now. Intake heater stays on for couple seconds and heat by the first light.

Did notice before I plugged in, truck's idle would raise by itself to about 1200 rpms on mornings with temps aroung 32. Press brake and idled back down. Is this a auto only thing like the high idle using the cruise buttons? I need to get that programmed at some point.

1000 rpm idle is standard on all third gens after 2 minutes if it's below 32°. They'll even do it if you leave it idling (already warm) while you run into a convienient store.

On a side note... . has anybody proven the cords are not all the same? They all look the same. I've not tried to swap but just by looking I think they're all the same from the 12 valves on through. This trouble may be easily avoided by keeping the cord off you're ould truck when you let her go.
