How long should my new CTD smell like burnt oil?

Where to find truck?

hey all, i'm on my second CTD, first was a 94 and just picked up an 01 on Thursday... . while trying to get acquainted with it yesterday i started looking for the plug (male end) for the block heater. i cant find it to save my life! i thought it may be in the same general area as the 94.

anyone have any idea if it even has one or where its located on a 2001?

i looked in the owners manual and there are about 20 pages missing and the ones concerning the block heater are in the 20 that are missing according to the index.

thanks for the help,

james guyton

On my 2002 the block heater plug is on the passenger side, comes from the bottom of the intercooler passenger side then it goes upward between the A/C condenser and front bumper. So when you open the hood look where your passengers headlight is in that area. Hope this helps. :)

thanks for the help all, i found it... and that snake would have definitely bit me!

thanks again, i look forward to being able to help you guys one day,

james

(yes, the block heater cord became "optional" on later models)

The block heater cord is:

1) Very easy to install

2) Pretty cheap aftermarket (but they should just provide it stock anyway !)

3) Worth the price to be able to start with a partially warmed truck on cool days.
