Is it ok to leave my engine block heater plugged in for days at a time. I live on the west coast where it rarely gets below freezing but sometimes I plug my trk in and dont drive it for days. Thanks for the input.

Dave, You could leave it plugged in all the time if you wanted.

I think a better idea would be to get "Thermo cube"

This would turn your heater on at a certain temp and off at another. Looks like a really neat product. Why run your block heater when its really not neccessary.

This is free advise. So its probably worth all that you pay for it. Over here in Idaho Falls it get sort of cold once in a while. I use a timer, bought at Home Depot for about
$5. 00 to turn the thing on in the wee hours of the morning. That way it's warm in the morning and dosen't pull juice all night.

In Oct I got a timer for mine. Up until then I would plug it in as soon as I was in for the night and leave it on all night. On the weekends after hunting season end I will plug in Friday night and never unplug it until monday morning and I have never had any problems. The first problems I have ever had started right after I got the timer. The factory plug end lost connection because of the moisture getting on it while driving.

Leaving it plugged in will just cause your Electric bill to be higher.

Don't worry, It is safe to leave it plugged in all the time. The block heater would have overheat the block and the whole cooling system before any damage were to occur.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will look into the timer deal since as of yesterday our state govenor went on tv and reqested every one to conserve electricity all across the board, even turning off our xmas lights. due to a anticipated cold spell and power shortage the price of power is going to up. Thanks again.
