block removal under rear springs for clearance?

I just hooked up my new 2004. 5 CTD 4x4 Quad Cab Long Bed Dually with my new Wilderness Advantage AX6 (37') 5er and have only 5" clearance between bed rails and 5er overhang.



Since 6" is minimum, I was wondering if it is ok to remove the two blocks under the rear springs to lower the back-end about 1 1/2"?



My new Pull-Rite Super 5th Hitch with Super Rails is in the third highest of four adjustments. Raising to next hole would probably not help (out of level).



I'm aware of flipping axles (springs on top), Jake Plates and lowering the truck front end 2". Which of these alternatives would you recommend, if removing the spring blocks is not a good idea?

Thanks to both of you. I tried the search function before posting but must not have had the correct words.



I feel good now about removing the spacers and this should correct my problem.

Ken and others that have done this.....

Are there any warranty issues by removing the spacers? I spoke to my dealer/service mgr and he said he had no problem with it but he didn't know what the official response would be if he ask DC. I too need the extra 1. 25-1. 5 inch clearance to avoid raising the fiver way too much with the 'flip kit'.

I can't think of any warranty issues, but I didn't ask. If I had a rear end problem, I'd probably de-mod the truck before taking it in. As noted in on my webpage, it looks like the suspension is designed for full travel, allowing the axles to hit the rubber stops on the frame. Also, a person with a 2WD reg cab, which has much more cargo capability than my QC 4WD, would probably drop just about as far with a full load.
