Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) blow by bottle modification...

I removed my blow by bottle and tube. I got 6' of heater hose and ran in down next to the transmission, using a few zip ties. I haven't seen any leaks and want to make sure that the modification is working properly. Should I seen any oil dripping out? Also, I think I read on here that the oil would eat up the radiator hose. Is that true? I guess for a couple bucks it's okay to replace every so often. Let me know what you all think.

Just be careful about making no "low" spots in the run and if you live in a really cold area there is a concern about freezing and blockage at the end. If it blocks, you blow seals in the engine. SNOKING

Like snoking said. But you can also kink the line, block it, and blow seals in the warm weather. Mine drops straight down to the center link - no bends or turns to kink.



You should not see oil dripping. You may occasionally see one drip per week under the hose. Sometimes you may see some vapor coming from the hose, but not frequently.

Ran mine straight up and over the airhorn and down to the frame just behind the control arm mount. I bought some crankcase vent hose from the Freightliner shop. Cummins didn't have it. They had some nice clamps too. Seems to work fine and it should eliminate the problem of oil running out on steep inclines.

What could be simpler and more logical? Extend the hose about 24 inches to front swaybar, drill a few more ventilation holes in the bottle for better breathing, then slip an old sock over it to catch/hold oily vapors - change the sock when you change oil...



Even a child could do it - or a blond... :-laf

I do knd of like Gary's. I run the tube down to the frame and put a sock on the tube. I ditched the bottle. I change the sock when it starts to get saturated with oil. Does not drip on the driveway.



Gary has a good system though.
