Got my blowjax compressor today after waiting more than a week for them to even ship the damn thing:mad: . However, I must say that my first impression of this thing is :--) :--) !!!!

The thing is HUGE! It weighs a ton (about 18 or so pounds) and appears to be built fairly well. I'm sure its impoerted (can't find anything)fit and finish looks good. It's about 1/3 the cost of that of the Thomas compressor that everyone gets wild about. I am going to have a buddy wld me some type of bracket to mount it with and will give a full report with pics when its all done. :D

Blowjax deal

I've been working on a deal for about 6 months on these. I have a bout 3 or 4 that say they want one. Lets get 10 and do it.

Turboman, I'd be interested if the price is right. I'm just finishing up my air horn install, right now they will be powered by twin air tanks (total of 22 gals. ), piggybacked and in the toolbox. I know that a compressor is in my near furture, sure would like to get a Blow-Jax with a 100 % duty cycle and lose one tank. A little over kill is usually just enough ;) .

Totally unrelated... has anyone else removed the OEM horns ??? They are tiny !!!! I kep't mine, plan on installing one on each of the girls Barbie jeeps come spring, that's where they belong.

Sorry- Had a brain fart and lost this thread somehow. I got the 1/3 HP continuous duty Part COMDC205. I just could not seee spending the extra money for a compressor that is gonna be hidden somewhere and not seen. I'm still in arguement with myself on where to but this beast on the truck. In the engine compartment is kinda out, IMO, because of the size. This thing is about 9" high by 13" or so long. It's about 5-6" wide. And did I say HEAVY? I am considering sticking it in the custom center console I'm gonna make, nobody has sat in that center seat since I bout the truck 4 years ago. If any of you have any suggestions, let me know. If it is mounted outside, it would have to have some type of cage or bracket made for it. Blow Jax reccommends that the compressor be serviced monthly (air filter and oil) so it should be easy to get at. If you mount it outside they HIGHLY reccomend that you get an additional filter to keep dirt out and keep it dry with fair air circulation.

This thing is semi overkill for what I plan to do with it. I have an air horn- no that is not all... ... :-laf Also plan on using it to inflate small boat, and to run air tools if need be. Eventually as $$ permits I would like to add air bags. I am going to use a 3gal air tank.

Dkevdog, I was thinking about going with an Odyessy(sp?) 1700 CA batt. and using just 1 batt. Would the comp. mount in batt. space?

Larry

Larry- I would think that it would fit in the battery tray area. It is about the same hieght and length. But of course is a bit less wide. You might need that extra battery to run the thing though!!;) It is reccommended that it run on a 40amp circuit.

Kev

What about PTO Drive

Is there one available that can be driven by PTO? That would solve alot of issues such as space and amp load. Just a thought.

dont know if anyone has ever done this before but I am gonna do it, today I recieved my Hadley under hood kit, all except air compressor, well being a fireman I do have access to compressed air bottles, I have a 2215 psi unit lined up that I will mount under bed of truck and that will be my supply, I will make it a simple quick hook up so I can refill it easily when needed... ... ... ... ... ... ... . Price on Blowjax deal

Some of you received an email from me with the details, so this is for the rest of you.

Blowjax 3/4 hp, 180psi, 4 cfm, 100% duty cycle, 60 amp solenoid and breaker, check valve, adj press switch, and shipping. They also have tanks 6 or 9 gal available also. I have 6 or 7 that are in as of now, anyone else give me a shout and I'll send you the price. :)

Wire gauge ???

What gauge wire is reccommended with a 60 amp. draw ?!? Or is it drawing somewhat less than 60 amps. ???

I was thinking of doing some surfing to see if I could find a performance test of this beast, should convince a few more to join up for the big win.

Scott W.

60 Amp Draw would be something around #6 or #4. That's some big A** wire. I got mine hooked up bench tested and all that good stuff. Works well. Pretty quiet too, not that noise is a problem:rolleyes: . The model I got is just a hair under the 3/4 horse in specs, after seeing this thing do its stuff I can't imagine needing anything more.

Kev

Thanks Kevin, that's about what i figured in regards to the wire  . Glad to hear that the compressor bench tested well, should be more than enough for most.

Finally completed the Grover install today, they are DEEP.
