Im new to my Turbo Diesels But Ive had turbo cars so im wondering if i can use a Blow off valve for a car on my turbo diesel

sure, but why?

if you plan to use it to get rig of "turbo bark" keep in mind:

with a wastegated single you will have to set it a little higher than wastegate actuation pressure. there are no throttle plates for the air to slam against so when you let you foot off the pedal fast you'll notice that your boost pressure wont go high enough to set it off anyway.....

other than that, some people use it to control max boost on twins or unwastegated singles.

 I think SKneeland is thinking of a pop off valve, not a true BOV.

The answer is yes. They are commonly used in high performance applications. The catch with a diesel is that you'll need a micro switch on the pedal and a solenoid to activate it. BD makes a kit that does just this... . just bring money.

the type i was refering to is a spring loaded pressure relief valve. dial in spring tension for whatever desired relief pressure. same thing that was in his "turbo cars" i would imagine.

Yea, I figured that. I think he's talking about a blowoff valve with a diaphram to vent boost pressure from the intercooler/plumbing when you lift throttle quickly to prevent turbo bark.
