I've noticed during the warmer summer months I have more blowby than in the cooler winter months. I normally run 5w40 synthetic all year. I was wondering if the lighter weight synthetic oil might allow for more blowby in warmer weather? Would running a 15w40 in the summer reduce blowby?

Not that I am overly concerned about the amount of blowby, however I do get some strange looks at the stop lights in the summer.

Thanks

Mmm, not to my knowledge. Once your motor is up to temp, the "40" part of the 5w-40 is the viscosity of the oil. The 5 part is the viscosity when cold. So I would say no.
