Got a 97 2500 with a 215 engine and there is a small amount of smoke coming from the crankcase vent when idleing. Is this normal? Uses very little oil and only 128000 miles ,little worried. Thanks for the help.

blow by bottle

I will try to tell you how I built my drip catcher. I started with a pill bottle and drilled a tight fitting hole in the lid to fit around the tube in order to keep water out when washing. I then drilled an 1/8" hole through the vent tube about 1/2" up or so. Next I slipped the pill bottle lid onto the tube and inserted a short piece of 1/8" welding rod with the flux removed through the hole. Make the 1/8" rod just long enough so it fits into the neck of the pill bottle. Now take the pill bottle and drill 1/4" or so holes all around the top for the vent area. I learned this method from another member on here. I took it one step further though after I got tired of the bottle becoming full of water after a good wash. I took an airisol can lid that was larger then the OD of the pill bottle and used a hole saw to drill out the center so it would fit down over the pill bottle threads to keep the water out. I made the hole a tight fit and threaded it down as far as it would go then threaded the bottle up into the lid. This has worked perfect for years. I did loose my first bottle just recently though because I used a brass rod and had the rod running front to back (the front end of the rod wore out letting the bottle fall off). This time I used the welding rod and ran it cross wise so maybe it won't wear out so fast. Well this was kinda of long but I hope it is clear enough to understand without pictures.
