I opened up the oil fill today with engine idling and was greeted with some white/grey vapor... ... not a whole lot of it, but definitely noticeable...

I just did a search for stuff on 12-valver blowby..... not a whole heck of a lot of info on how much of it is normal.

Anyone have any input?

Matt

Blowby on a turbo charged diesel is normal. The crankcase is always on the positive side for pressure.

White-tan oily residue on the filler cap is a sure sign of moisture in the crankcase. This could be anywhere from cold starts to cold running to leaking coolant. Get it checked.

It has been cold here and I have only recently used it on short runs, how can I check it and what to look for?? Coolant looks good no oil, oil looks good no coolant?
