So I was cruising home today from work and sure enough, a little compact car cut me off. Since I just got my Hadley Bully's installed, I layed into them for a good 3 seconds. Next thing I know, I look in my rearview mirror and there is a police car waving at me to pull over.

I thought well heck, I blew the horns so I deserve it. I pulled off to the side of the road and to my surprise, the cop goes flying by and goes and pulls over the guy who cut me off! HAHAHAHAH!!! I've never laughed so hard in my life!!! My new motto is: Stop crime... blow a Bully!

Bob-
I don't know if there is a law against them, but in the installation instructions there is a line that says check local noise abatement laws to avoid problems. I've heard it is illegal to blow your horn in some city limits.

Right on! I want a set bad. After reading posts like this I begin daydreaming about all the evil things i can do #ad
What's an average cost for a set(no specific brand)?

I have a BIG long Grover I've been dying to get hooked up. I just need to get a pump and a switch. I was playing with it today as a matter of fact. This thing will blow the windows out of the car that pulls out in front of me. #ad

You probably got the cop's attention, and knowing Colorado, the ticket for reckless driving was higher than a noise ordanance violation!!!! Gotta'love yankee land, they know where th $$ are!

I got my horns from JCWhitney. They wanted $250 for them, but if you sign up for a 30 day trial to their car club, you get 10% off + $20 gift certificate. I signed up, ordered the horns and as soon as they were delivered, I ended my membership!

If you get some and you need installation help, let me know as I have every problem known to man putting them in.

azcummins,
thanks for the reply... it will probably be about two months before I can scrounge up the money to get a set, but I'm definately to mischiveous to not have some. Hopefully all will go well with instalation, but if not I will give you shout. Is it the Hadleys or Grovers that sound more like a train horn?

The cops in Colorado must be cracking down on "road rage". A girl in a beatup newer mustang cut me off a couple of weeks ago to go around a cop that was going a little under the speed limit on the interstate. When I got up to him, he turned his turn signal on, so I let him in and he pulled her over. We were not over the limit so I dont think it was for speeding.

I have had police with lights on behind me and when I pull over they just keep going. It is a good feeling to know they are after the other guy. Of course I have seen the light and pull over and they follow me also. I had one to tell me the safety chain was unhooked. He also asked what I had done to the rig to get it to pull the previious hill so easily,he related he hasn't seen many 5ers go up that hill quite that fast. I just said officer,"it's a cummins. " He watched me hook the chain up and told me to have a great day!I have a clean record also.

I've got twin electric horns that are rated out of the box at like 134db, but I turned 'em up a little more... they work pretty well for me, and they're a lot cheaper than air horns (though I'll admit, I'd LOVE to have some big air horns!)

I find that if I'm still worked up after laying into the horn, pulling past them and leaving them in a cloud of diesel smoke seems to satisfy. :p

forrest

I bought a used 24" Grover from a big-rig bone yard for $25. Had a buddy of mine get me a air compressor & 1/2 gallon tank (probably will go bigger  ) for $60 for a grand total of around $90(had to get rebuild kit from Rickson) I've got a horn that will LET PEOPLE HEAR ME! Oo.

Now if I can just find time to get it all back on!:rolleyes: :{

azcummins,

It never crossed my mind to look in JCW for good air horns and now I see that they've got a bunch of different ones and kits. Which do you have that work good, and loud?

I wait till the jerk that cut me off is along side my 03 and then hit the horns. I love the look on their faces. I bet some of them have to clean out their pants. I wish here if Fla they would give anyone over the age of 65 a road test every time their license comes up for renewal. :D

How about on the fender?

I too have some junkyard horns out there in the dark somewhere...

Went into the Nashville Kenworth store the other day and what is shining at me from under the glass counter/case?

Oo. Grover "Train" Horns!Oo.

And I need some too. :p

About 279USD I think. Plus all the stuff to make 'em work. If only I could figger out where to mount the darn things.

Grovers-deeper mellower, Hadleys a bit more nasal.

But both are much sweeter than the "sparrow fart" that D/C provides us with--especially when we're rated to pull 20,000# with 7,000# trucks--and/or some of us have more horsepower than necessary.

Somebody in my Co has some train horns. I hear him every now and then. There ain't no trains here--well, I've never seen one and they haven't left any tracks. :D
