I installed a set of power tow mirrors on my 02. problem is that when you electrically move the drivers side it blows the fuse. When you move the passenger side the drivers mirror also moves in some directions but does not blow the fuse. Any Help?????? I was thinking of finding a set of factory power mirrors and see what happens when they are plugged in. I tried a new selector switch , didnt help. There is something shorted but I dont know where to start. Anyone have a set of power mirrors laying around that I could borrow??????

What color combination did you use? You will need to figure out what got crossed. If you do a search on the mirror conversion, you should find the info.

Take the driver mirror back off and see if you pierced one of the wires with a mounting bolt. You might have connected a hot leg to ground. What kind of tow mirrors are they?

Yeah, take it apart and check for a nicked wire. I had a really small nick in one of mine at first - it was shorting out on the door. It took me a few fuses to find it.

mirrors

I bought these mirrors from a guy back east way back in 02. These were suposedly the Proto types from the factory that supplied Dodge. These are the power heated tow mirrors that came out on the 03's. They came off an 02 so I just plugged them in. They worked at first but with no probs but then developed this problem. I will pull the drivers side and see.

In that case, if they worked fine at first then it has to be a chaffed wire. Double check all wires as they pass by any metal part of the door, also check where they pass throught the door jamb and verify that everything is insulated. You're looking for a needle in a haystack, good luck!

found it

This has been haunting me for a long time, Sure enough the wires were pinched where they go through the door right at the mirror. There is a canal in the mirror for the wires that I didnt utilize.
