Just hopped in the truck, and when I took off,it made a snap, then a slight grinding but no more forward movement. I was on it pretty hard, and it sounds like something broke.

There are no codes, fluid is OK,and no signs of any external damage. There is a slight grinding sound when put into gear (any gear),but no forward (or reverse movement) whatsoever. The grinding is barely audible, you really have to listen to hear it over engine.

Any ideas from the transmission gurus before I yank this thing out ? I know it due to be rebuilt (370000 K),but anything else it could be before I open it up ?

I must have jinxed myself as I just asked about swapping in another trans. Truck must have heard me.

Well,it wasn't the transmission at all. I tried it in 4WD and away it went. It also wouldn't hold in Park either.

Figured it was in the back end of the transfer case, and when I dropped the rear driveshaft to yank it out,the splines are totally stripped off the yoke. I had to beat it out of the transfer case. The TC output shaft is a little chewed up,but will hopefully survive when it's cleaned up.
