Blown Turbo Seal

Well I bought a new 2004 Ho 3500 Dually 4x4 4 door in dec 31,03.

The dealer installed a Jacobs exhaust brake. The truck now has 7258 miles on it and on saturday I took off the intake to drill it to put a boost gauge in it and to my surprise it had oil all through it. So I took off the air intake off of the air box to the tubo and then the lower turbo boot. The the turbo compressor wheel had no oil on it but the turbo boot had it all through it. I do not know how long it has been like this. It did not smoke and ran fine. I'm calling the dealer tomorrow to let then know about my findings. So if you own a new HO you just might want to see if yours is doing the same. I will keep you posted on what the dealer says.

Your lucky the engine didn't runaway and blow up on you. One TDR member blew his engine up not to long ago when the turbo blew a seal and the truck started running on the motor oil.

That will take some major cleaning too!

Maybe they'll spring for a new Intercooler if theres enough proof of all that oil in there.



The truck has very few miles, I hope they consider the intercooler too.

Well I called the dealer (Laurel Dodge of Latrobe Pa. )on Monday and they told me to bring it down. I took it down they arranged for a rental car for me to drive. They said they would order the turbo and give me a call when it was done. I told them that the transmission(which is a 6 speed) was hard shifting and to change the oil. I called them on Thursday to see what was happening with it and they told me the turbo should be there that day. The turbo had to come out of Texes. They called me on Friday to come and get the truck. They fixed the transmission and changed the oil and did not charge anything for the oil change. My hat off to them for getting me my truck done so fast. they changed the complete turbo and turbo housing.
