I have recently deleted the DPF on my truck and put the edge with attitude on it cause the site i bought it from said it would delete it in the cpu. so while i wait for the smarty JR to get here i noticed that the exhaust spits blue smoke out the tail pipe. it only happens when the motor is in regen and i am taking off from a stop sign. i am new to the diesel world so i have no idea what these trucks can do and what can go wrong with them. i am just curious as to what could be wrong. thank you

That is raw fuel going to the exhaust system. This is the problem with the deletes and in some cases the programmers. The computer is going to call for a regen and the fuel has got to go somewhere.

Read the latest TDR article about the programmers and deletes.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but the Edge w/ Attitude does not turnoff the regen. You will need Sims w/ the Edge to be free of regens.

The Smarty will turn off the regens and EGR (deleted or not w/ the EGR).

So if you don't do the deletes with the regens shut off, does everything just start clogging up?

If you do the delete like the OP w/o a programmer to shut it off. Then you will have the problem he is having. If he wants to keep the Edge, then he needs to get a delete pipe w/ bungs and install the Sims resisters to keep the truck happy w/ the counter for regens.

If you put a programmer on w/o deleting (i. e. Smarty S67 Sofware, Edge, H&S, Hypertech Max, Superchips), depending on the tuning it can/will create alot more regens and plugging issues. Especially if it's a dirty tune.

I ran the Hypertech Max on Stage 2 (59hp/120tq) setting, and it ran good w/ the emission components intacted. Lower EGT's, less regens and mileage stayed the same or a tad better. So I can speak of that programmer for a person who wants a little more go power for whatever reason and work good. I also heard the Smarty/Jr works good on a emission intacted truck w/ running on the "S" sofware (software for emission intact truck).

Reagrdless you take a chance for something going wrong if you load a programmer on these 6. 7's (especially a stock truck componets intact).

The bigggest issue if you do the deletes is the drive pressure.
