Burning Veggie Oil

Bio Diesel ??

Hi everyone,

I know Bio diesel has been discussed on this forum before and I

would like to know what you think about Bio diesel now?

The reason I ask is, if you feel it is a good option to petroleum

based diesel, how much resistance will it get from the petroleum

industry??

At a time when jobs are leaving our country and our dependency

on Arab oil is so great, I would think ( hope) this would be a good solution.

After reading the Blue Sun Bio diesel website it sounds like there

are many benefits to using it.

There are 4 stations they list that carry Bio diesel in Colorado,

I wish there were more so it could be tried by more Diesel

owners. Thanks for your input.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you. I would also like to know more about it. Do any modifications need to be done to run bio-diesel?

Steve

No modifications are needed. It will clean out your fuel system so keep a filter handy and change it early.

I have run a few tanks of the Blue Sun B20 and it does fine. The only problem is the cost. I'm sure its over $2. 00 a gallon at the pump by now. Some states subsidize bio diesel so that the price is the same as #2. If that was the case I would run it full time.

Almost forgot, if you really want to break the foriegn oil cycle, you might be interested to know diesel can be refined entirely from good ole' USA natural gas. It's still a petroleum product, but we have abundant natural gas resources here in the US.

I get mixed messages when my natural gas prices for home heating went up 70% this winter.

I do want to break the foreign oil cycle sending money to Arab

countries IMHO sucks, my 2 cents!!!!

Thanks again for the http://www.biodiesel.org/ it has some

interesting ideas that we need to think about in the future.

Glad to be of help. You know whats funny about the price increases? The lease holders royalty checks aren't going up much, if at all! How doets that work??? HMMMM???

I've run B20 in South Dakota, no problem. I called Shoco Oil the other day to see how much bio D was, and it was $2. 30!!! Ithink I'll stick with diesel kleen additive until the price gets a little more competitive. In KS and SD, biodiesel is the same price as dino#2-why such a premium here?

We have blue sun bio here in Boulder. I run it in my truck.

B20 bio is about $1. 92/gal & #2 is $1. 76, so it's not much more expensive.

I really notice it make my truck quieter, less smelly & less smoke too.
