bluegrass fuel system

I was wondering if anyone has used the bluegrass fuel system. Bluegrass Fuel Systems, LLC - Home Mixing waste petroleum oil with diesel fuel. I tried to search the posted threads and did not find anything associated with it, (I may not be doing a correct search). I like the idea of filtering it down to 1 micron but still not sure about usung the waste oil?

I'm guessing that noone has used anything like this system, due to the lack of responses. Does anyone have any personnel thoughts on this system that can be viewed at Bluegrass Fuel Systems, LLC - Home I am looking for any info that may be helpful. Do you think that the filtration media and filtration of the waste motor oil will enable it to be run when mixed with the proper amount of diesel?

I have run my truck on 6-10% waste motor oil for 6 or 7 years, and have not had a problem. I have a fuel pressure gauge on my truck so I can monitor for filter plugging, which doesn't seem to be a problem. Fuel economy with up to 10% WMO isn't any different than with straight diesel, and the engine has less combustion noise. Motor oil has a cetane number of ~85, so it will boost the cetane of the fuel. The motor oil also improves the lubricity of the fuel due to an increase in viscosity. This is important for VP44 trucks. I stop using WMO when the weather gets below freezing.

Thanks for the reply, Are you familar with the bluegrass system at all? I am still up in the air on this due to I would be running the mix in an 06 Ram 2500 HO. Also wondering if I should go with an HHO generator instead?

I don't have any experience with the Bluegrass fuel system, but I did spend some time reading their web pages yesterday. They sort of oversell it by saying that you are making your own fuel, where what you are actually doing is blending WMO with diesel fuel and filtering it thoroughly before pumping it into your fuel tank. This is better than what I do: I pour the WMO through a fine-mesh plastic coffee filter as I put it in the fuel tank. I add the oil first, then fill up with diesel to agitate and mix the oil in. The big selling point of the Bluegrass system is the element that filters acids and water out of the oil.



In my opinion, an HHO generator is a complete waste of money. It takes more energy to break down a water molecule than you get from burning the H+HO that you get from it.
