Has anyone had any dealings with Blumenthal Mfg in Oklahoma City? I'm scheduled for a TC and transmission replacement with them. Do they have good parts, service, etc. I'm just travelling through and saw there Ad in the TDR and phoned them. How are there prices and is there any better ones between Yuma AZ and Wisconsin that some one would recommend.

Thanks

Milt

trans. shop

If you could make it to ne Iowa, you might try Goered Brothers at St. Lucas, Ia. Its a little town north of Ceder Falls. 563 778 2719 is the ph. # I have for them. I live in nw Iowa and its one of the only shops I know of in the mid-west that seems to know these trans. Also have heard nothing but good about them!!

I got my clutch through them and was very pleased with the service I got. Though I did not have them install it, but in just the purchasing end I was happy with them. I have also talked to them in regards to installing a NV5600 and just in talking to them if and or when I do the swap I will probably have them do it for me. They were better priced than anyone else I have talked to. I havent dealt with any of the other companies so I really dont have much to base a comparison on but I have been pleased with them.

As long as you don't have to have them ship something, you're OK. I've pruchased from them twice, both times I've had problems with the shipping, Once, they didn't ship when it was supposed to, the second time, they shipped it COD after I already gave them a CC.

The parts are high quality though.

This is 5-speed transmission stuff, I don't know a thing about thier auto transmission stuff

Milt;

I've never dealt with Blumenthal's.

The local diesel shop, Mike's Custom Trucks, is just getting set up with them as a dealer in the manual transmission product line. If Mike wants to be a dealer, that alone tells me Blumenthal's is a quality shop.

Ditto on talking to Goerend first about your automatic transmission. Dave is an up front guy. After 25 years in the transmission business he has learned the craft, but does not cry wolf over what is needed to fix you up.

Check out their web page. I believe they are OEM suppliers for trans parts to the auto makers and also a lot of trans shops use their parts. They are a big company. The shop that did my full splined shaft and rebuild will use nothing else in their rebuilds.

I enjoyed the day I spent at Goerends. I had the run of the shop, & got to watch every step. They set the whole day aside for my appointment. I watched every detail, as they built the TC & tore down & updated the transmission. They recommended what I did and did not need, & I watched Dave spend three hours custom building my particular triple disc TC. He explained every detail, & built it according to my HP, torque curve, & usage. I watched & even lent a hand putting it all back in the truck. Very informal, friendly, effecient operation, & top quality work. With about 300 HP at the rear wheels, I cannot slip that TC, even at low RPM & the transmission was set up for at least that HP level. Very happy with it so far, had it installed last August. I shopped around, & Dave was where the value was.

I just got my 5600 from Blumenthal

I am very pleased with the transmission, though my 2nd gear grinds sometimes, when stopped, you must wait about 3 seconds for the mainshaft to stop spinning for it to get in gear, and from 1st to 2nd, you have to float the gear, or else it will grind nasty, and not even go in... I had problems with some of the parts not getting shipped together, but all was here before the SBC got back from Peter. . Overall, I would recommend Blumenthal to other people.

They sent my fully splined shaft, gear and nut UPS two day. Not a problem. Maybe the UPS guy likes going West of Houston more than going to the South side. :D :D :D
