Hi All,
I've been patiently waiting (or trying to) to get my hands on a Boost Module. From the sounds of it, I liked the Bmann electronic type that just plugged in like the VA CPC.

Anyone know where these are and what their status is ? Last I knoew Bmann was waiting for a connector.

Ted ?... Bmann ?

If they are not close on getting their boost module set up and ready for sale, try checking this out.
PowerEdge Products

You may or may not like it I don't work for them nor do I have any products by them yet although in the next few days I am going to order the PowerEdgeBox just to check it out. All their products have a 60 day garentee.

Kat , that 60 day was changed to a 30 day , i recieved an email from brett regarding it , as far as bmann's boost module goes , last i heard he was still trying to get the connectors . seems that the one that mimics the map sensor doesn't exist and has to be made from scratch , one of the companies that had it made will not sell any of the connectors alone , or wanted some ridulious cost per unnit for it , that i don't know for sure , but the best way to stop competition is to not supply the competitor ... anyway , he has an alternative source , unless he is having them made himself , i'm going to e him tomorrow and find out where he stands ...

but i am also going to get the power edge, waiting to hear back from HVAC , he has one and am curious how it works with the DD 3's ...

OH SULTAN OF HP , whats the status ??? #ad

Mopar-

Thx for the info, I don't think thats very good customer service then seeing as how every page on the website still reflects "All products have a 60 day full money back guarantee. " Also I have 3 emails from them stating that.

I am going to order a PowerEdge Module just for grins to see how it works (Getting a good introductory price until June 1st unless that has changed too?). I am gonna let at least 1 other person put it in his truck here when I get it to test it. I have some other upgrades in the works for my truck to start out.

Is the PowerEdge just a Boost Module? I looked at their website and it sure looks pricey to me...

They offer three different products:

  • The PowerEdge Module (which has the boost module built into it)
  • A Propane kit
  • Boost module seperately because they saw a demand for it.

I have been working a little bit with the folks at Edge Products and have tested both their Boost Module and the Power Edge. The Boost Module is just that - it fakes out the ECM. I believe you also get the boost elbow with the setup. The module simply plugs in line with the MAP sensor and works very well.
I have also run some of their prototypes of the Power Edge and really like the power it produces. I ran mine in conjunction with the VA box - AWESOME POWER.
I highly recommend their product.

If you tested the Edge with a VA, how was the EDGE without the VA?

I am in the process of switching from the VA to the EDGE but wonder if I am making a mistake. (mistake being switching or combining)

Any feedback would be appreciated.

if i remember correctly the elbow is adjustable .

i am wondering the same thing as david about the combo of the 2 , but then again i may just bit the bullet and i'll have a chance to try them both ...

Well,
With the #$@#$ stock market in the toilet, I'll probably swap to the EDGE and return to the VA later when the mad money cash flow looks better.

DDIII's are in the long range plans too. (Darn you HVAC!!)

Kat, keep us posted. This sucks. All these new toys what's a guy to do? (rob a bank???) There's another player now also. Diesel Dynamics has their new box "the Thermonator" on their web site. Claiming 80 HP / 150 Ft Lbs on a stock truck. Has an EGT probe and a "T" connector to plug in between something in the factory harness. I'd say the MAP circuit, connector isn't big enough to be much else. Could this be the ultimate? Monitor boost and EGT and leave the driving to us?

KPE, since you've seen one, Power edge that is, where how do they hook into the harness? The ads say no scotchlocks. What are they hooking to?

Dave, Why the switch? What's up with the VA? Good, Bad, or Ugly? You guys up there had me ready to order the VA (+DD#I's). Now what?

OH SULTAN, were are you?? Quit playing at May Madness and get back to work wrecking our home lives!! Inquiring minds NEED to Know. By the way how's Gary?

When we were testing different programs on my truck (see signature) we ran with and without the VA connected but different programs for each scenario. I liked the power with the VA. Since then (3 or 4 weeks ago) they have done some more programming and I will get the new box on Friday and will test it with and without the VA. You can call Brett or Taylor Satterthwaite (owners) at (801)476-3343 and they can answer all of your questions.
Connection question: There is a 12v key on wire (use Geno's painless wiring kit, its great), a ground wire, one connector tee's into the MAP sensor just like a boost module (built into the PowerEdge), and one wire that "pins" into a wire under the black plastic cover over the VP44. This is a new design connector that essentially has a needle that pierces the plastic wire cover in the center yet when removed the plastic rebounds and pretty much covers the hole. It doesn't damage the plastic cover like those damn scotch lock connectors (who ever developed those should be shot!).

The combo of VA, stage I's and the boost mods are fantastic. I urge anyone who is on the fence to do it and not get confused by all these box choices unless you know you plan to go all out and really are honest with yourself that you will have the money soon enough to make any difference to your overall enjoyment.
========
I am 'switching' as I currently am short on cash but want to try the new EDGE box (and it's propane capability). I think it will allow me to go further than I can go with the VA alone. I was heading towards a combo of both, but the stock market has me concerned at the moment.

Best case I will switch to this box, use it to run propane, then add another VA later on when the stock market gets back on track.

Bottom line, HVAC has ruined me #ad
. AT ALL COSTS, DO NOT EVER GET IN HIS TRUCK #ad

Dave, doing some math, granted doesn't replace the dyno but... If you take the advertisers at face value and if mods are cumulative (sp?) will your drive line take that kind of power? If the stock ISB non ETH makes 195 / 385 (DD's dyno graph) now go to DDI's = 245 / 485, plus the VA = 305 / 645, plus the EDGE box on max = 385 / 925. And you are considering DD # III's WOW. Remeber this is just straight adding numbers, as mods accumulate you won't see the total accumulate that high or will you?
Anyway I think the EDGE on it's own will be plenty for me 195 / 385 (stock) + 75 / 280 (edge enhancement) = 270 / 765. Real world probably 255 to 260 HP and somewhere around 650 to 700 Ft Lbs. And if that's not enough a set of injectors would fry the clutch at will.
Hardest thing for me is to talk myself into splicing. Any thoughts?

Clearing the air on the PowerEdge Box -
<font color=blue>
This is cut from a email I recieved today (5/25) from Brett :

"You are correct on the 60 day money back guarentee, we discussed changing to 30 days and I mentioned this to some people, but we have decided to stay with the 60 day period. I am sorry if our unorganization has caused confusion, we have been very busy with R&D and did not have the "business" side completly ready and everything hit real fast. The PowerEdge defiantly has a boost module built in. "</font>

I hope this clears up any misunderstandings that might be floating around. The introductory price is good until June 1st. I am getting one out of sheer curiosity.

Thanks for the information on the other products, but I still don't have an answer to where the Bmann/JRE boost module is.

It would be great if Bmann or Ted would reply to this to clear things up...
