I just installed an Amsoil BMK-25 dual setup this weekend. Everything seemed fine with the install.

The problem is that Sunday and today both when I start the truck the oil gauge looked fine then it dropped to 0 and was there for a while and the chec gauge light came on.

Also, there is a loud noise during operation which I assume is the oil pump working.

Can some of you Amsoil guys that run the BMK-25 dual set-up give me some advice?

I am concerned that I am doing more harm than good if the engine is really operating without oil pressure for that long.

Thanks in advance.

Need to know year of your truck . Their have been issues with these units although my 04. 5 has had no problems. Go to the amsoil website for more info. Sounds like you are getting some drainback to the the oli pan.

Sorry, I am new to posting questions

I mounted it to the passenger side frame rail. I did not drill the frame. I mounted it to a piece of metal and bolted that to another piece of metal with 2 bolts above and 2 bolts below the frame.

I know I did not decribe it well, but I thought it was a solid install.

Those kits are known to have startup oil psi issues with the 3rd gen motors. Some people have good luck, but most don't. The oil psi gauge on 3rd gens is fake, so the ECM has to see 0psi for 30 seconds before it will tell you about it.

I will caveat this comment that I am a lifelong Amsoil user, and dad is a dealer... Amsoil claims they have checked the pressure and despite what the dash says there is good oil pressure. I personally have no clue how that is possible. The oil psi switch is a 5 psi switch, so how can you have good pressure but not trip a 5 psi switch?

I would call the Amsoil dealer you bought it from and return it for a BMK-25, run a EaO80 in the OEM location and the BMK-21 down where you mounted the BMK-25.

Funny they took out the disclaimer on the 3rd genners atleast I couldn't find it. You may want to put a mechanical gauge in just to verify oil pressure. The noise you are hearing is the the checkvalve in the bypass unit thats why most of us mount them to the engine. See this site this is what I did.

When they re-designed the BMK-15 they labled it the BMK-25 and removed the disclaimer; however, there have still been plenty of reports of the same issue.

My guess is that something in the design of the 3rd gen oil system allows the remote mount setups to back-drain so you have to fill both filters at startup, or at least partially. It's very odd.

But if you do add an oil psi gauge I suggest using the port above the ECM, its very close to the OEM sender and you will be able to watch the block oil pressure better than in the top of the oil filter housing. You can click the Pricol's link in my sig to see how I installed mine.

Funny though he has it mounted to the frame i would think that is lower than the filter set up on the engine.

get rid of the bmk25 and go to a bmk21 with a 110 filter. the bmk 25 was a very bad idea from day one. i did buy one at a garage sale and drilled, pluged and made new inserts for it. it makes a nice fuel filter. #ad

isn't their some valving that you need to take out for both sides to filter?

yes i had to cross drill two ports and close off two other ones to take it from parallel to series and remove the restriction. the threads in the base was 3/4-16
