My 01 fuel gauge is a lying piece of junk. It will read down to 1/8 of a tank and then stays there. I ran out of fuel 3 times and I thought I was having injector pump problems. It finally dawned on me that the gauge was always at 1/8 when the truck died. Any help or suggjestions would be appreciated.

guessing it's the same type of unit as my 96 it can be cleaned, reasults seem to vary for people who clean their senders, the one in my truck was dead at anything but the first 50 or so miles of a tank so i cleaned and repositioned the contacts in it and 2 years and 20k miles later it's still going, it's fairly easy to test your fix with a multimeter before you reinstall, the pain if it is unless you have a flatbed like me you either need to drop the tank or pull the bed to get it

Kevin... . just curious, but where does the term "BO" come from. Only place I've heard it was a police dept in so. cal. Is it a military term?

RE: Did you work there?

A long long time ago, back when it was still fun and the criminals didn't run the city. Mostly No. Hollywood (15X99), Rampart, and Metro.

'BO' has meant Bad Order for as long as I can remember in the electronics world. We used the same term in the USAF back in the late '60s also for mechanical stuff.

When was it that you started? What did you do in Metro? I was only there about a yr and a half. I'm still in law enforcement, but it's not the same feeling of pride as being an LAPD officer.
