What is the largest boat you have in a toy hauler?

Preferances:

1) Tag a long

2) Front bedroom

Also, how do you load it.

Thanks,

A buddy of mine used to wedge his 15' (?) in. It is a pretty simple boat with an outboard. He had to relocate the license plate for the boat trailer then that gave him 2" on either side going through the door.

He decided that it was too much work, and not worth the anxiety when loading/unloading it, so he put a hitch on the rear of the 5er. Now he is 65' (I think) from front bumper of the truck to prop on the boat when hooked up. He is gonna regret doing this one day.

The last sportsman exhibit I attended has a nice 16' boat in a tag a long toy hauler with front bedroom. The boat trailer had a removable tongue and was loaded using a portable electric winch that was attached to a D ring in the floor. Can't remember the trailer brand.

This one sounded so bazaar I had to think about it for a while. The biggest dedicated garage I have seen in a toy hauler was 10 feet in length. The toy haulers that share space with the living quarters is a little more, but still I can help but to think "WHY". That seams like a real pain in the butt way to go. I would think anyone that had a boat would simply pull it by hitch. I have never seen a anyone with a toy hauler have a boat. There are the motorcycle, and ATV crowd (who by the way started this hole mess) some golf guys with there silly golf cart, but never a boat. All toy hauler I have seen have the bed in front, it is the only practical place to have it. Also, now there are many companies that offer long goose neck auto haulers with the front living quarters. These are much more practical and provide more options as well as more room. It would be very easy to get your boat in one of these trailers, you can go as big as you and your wallet can afford. The method for getting the boas inside would be very easy. They would install a 12V electric winch and simply pull it in, the front would be supports by a trailer jack outfitted with a wheel. These units are really nothing new now days, they have come along way in a short matter of time. The options are almost endless and it ends up being unique to you and your needs.

I've seen 2, 3 person jetskis on a trailer in a toy hauler 5th wheel that was probably 30 some feet long. They fit tight but they fit. He was pulling a boat behind the 5ver so he had a load in total. I would be concerned for the weight that would be put on the toy hauler area, I think most of them are only made to handle around 1,500 lbs. Those jetskis were certainly over, a boat could get there pretty quick too.

Boat & Toy Hauler

I have a Keystone 21' TailGator.

My Wife did not want to haul my 10' injection molded boat. ???

I had a welder attach 2 - 2" receivers to the back, below the door.

I built a cradle that swings forward and back as needed.

I lift the boat (166 lbs) to rest on the cradle.

the cradle slides into the 2 receivers.

I thru bolted 2 eyelets to the top of the rear door to strap and tie the top of the boat down.

This works for me.

I load a 12' boat on it's trailer into the back of my 28' TT Desert fox. It is some what a hassle but at least I have my boat. I don't feel comfortable doing a triple because I cant see the boat dragging behind the trailer. I have seen some seriously bad regular trailer things happen before to others and didn't want to be a victim. I could just see stopping somewhere and go to check on the boat only to find the remains of the boats trailer tongue dragging on the ground  .

In Oregon it is NOT legal to tow doubles.

I like the idea of the room in a SURV

The biz that I am in makes it next to impossible to have a 5th hitch

I have an 18. 5' x 93" boat. Use a slide-in now.
