My father has a 92 Dodge Cummins with an automatic OD and he is having problems with the body computer. Now, I have never heard of this device, but he said it controls the heater for the truck (he has not had a functioning heater all winter). Anyways, his has gone bad and he cannot find one anywhere and I was wondering if anybody out there knows where we can find one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting this sometimes will reset the computer. If that doesn't help take the unit out and bring to dealer parts dept. If they know what they are doing they should be able to get a rebuilt you need to have the unit so they can get the numbers from it. LOL

By heater do you mean inside heater or air inlet heater on motor. DC did not use body computers in trucks in 1992.

I mean the heater inside of the cab. I just realized that I posted this in the 2nd generation ram forum.

buckeyebrute,
That's Ok we need a little brain teaser now and then.
I never heard of computer running heating system(in cab) but you never know.
Check to see if he has manual valve on heater hoses and if it works.
If he has flow thru system check temperature door.
If he does have body computer disregard the above. It is known as PCM now but had other name earlier models. On the second generation computer has nothing to do with controlling heating system. Some of the cars have an automatic temp control system.

Now you got me interested I will have to start reading the first generation forum.
