Well the body side moulding is starting to look really bad due to the peeling chrome. I would like to remove it and replace it with that newer style that Geno's sells . My truck is a 96'.

Any tricks , Maybe a heat gun or? anybody done this with success (no messed up paint?)

I had a 96 with the exact same problem, I know what you're going through. The body side molding can be removed by heating up the molding with a hair dryer or heat gun, have someone else as you go run a piece of thin nylon cord under it to seperate it from the truck.

As for the remaining adhesive, go to Home Depot and buy a big bottle of goof off, or similar adhesive remover. Get a six pak of your favorite brew, a stool to sit on and go to work. It took a while to remove it. The longer (older the truck) it sits, the worse it can get.

As for the new molding, PM me. I know where to get the newer type molding at a really good price. It is the same brand and type that DC uses on the trucks.

A heat gun works well. Instead of nylon cord use a couple of pieces of dental floss twisted together. The wax on the dental floss won't scratch the paint. Goo-be-gone citrus cleaner removes the adhesive without damaging the paint. -Glen
