Hey guys, whenever I start my truck in the morning it idles at about 850 rpm, as usual and will dip down a little above 800 and sounds like the motor is straining-the headlights and dashlights also dim. It does it every 5-7 seconds. I can blip the throtle while the rpm's are dipping and it revs as usual.

After I drive the truck and warm it up it won't do it. If I shut the truck off when it's warm and restart it after 30 min the rpm's will dip again as if it was just fired up in the morning and quickly goes away after it's driven.

I haven't checked the fuel press so I don't know. I also just added the straight pipe if that makes any difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When it is cold, your truck will cycle the heater grid for your incoming air. This is normal, all the trucks do it. It is that heater that is running when your "wait to start" light is on. It turns off the grid when you hit 18mph or so. No worries! The reason your lights dim is that the heater pulls a LOT of current.

Have temps droped in the past few days where your at? My truck does this a lot (I live in Alaska). It's normal.

Yup, every one I've been in does it if it's cold enough outside(not sure the exact temp the heater grid kicks on at). You'll also notice it more if you have your headlights on.

take a look at your voltage guage while its doing it and you'll gain a new respect for your batteries and alternator too... . :D
