Boiling sound with block heater on

I've noticed a "boling" type sound when I plug my block heter in. Is it an electrical pump that circulates the coolant or is it just the coolant heating?



It doesn't go away either- I hear it in the am when I come out to the truck.

i think it is just a heating element. on all of my tractors in the past, you could hear that sound. i think it is from the convection currents set up in the coolant??, secondary to the temp differential between the heated coolant and the cooler coolant.

I thinks its normal, Mine makes the same sound for about an hour until the coolant begins to warm up then it goes away.

Yeah,thats normal been hearing it for years. Thats how I know its pluged in!!!!!!!
