I needed to slip over here in the over-valved part of the world to get some advice for a friend of mine.

He just bought a new 2002 2500 with an auto. The truck is used to haul a 3000 lb cab over camper. Also Pete does not want to put his warranty in jeopardy.

At this point I suggested that he get the guages installed, a free flowing exhaust system(remove stock muffler and install a straight thru truck muffler), and a different air filter. Other than that, leave it the way it is. My concern is that if he adds a fueling box. . his warranty might go right out of the window.

What's your advice?????

Thanks

Rick

EZ...

In addition to what you mentioned above, add an EZ by Edge Products. It is a straight plug in and doesn't tap the injection pump wire. It adds good seat of the pants power. Can be removed before going to the dealer for warranty. Heck, I bought my EZ from my dealer...

The fueling boxes are removable, and the Edge EZ doesn't even tap any wires, unplugs in about 1 min. The more "potent" boxes tap a "void able" wire, but there are ways around that.

If he's really concerned about his warrenty, I would not do ANY power mods, the darkside, is a wicked, wicked, place. Once he starts Bombin', he'll never stop, then out goes the warrenty. :{ Just my nickel's worth:rolleyes:

Rick,

Typically, the timing boxes and fueling boxes do not leave any codes in the ecm, unless there is a bad connection at the map sensor connector.

Cummins can tell when a box has been installed by looking at the fueling maps and determining a truck is pumping more fuel than stock. So far the dealers can't do this, but if DC really wanted to find out (during a big warranty repair) they can.

With a stock auto trans I wouldn't go with any box bigger than an EZ or Van Aaken. If he relies on his warranty, then I'd leave the power alone.

I vote for the EZ also,it may make the transmission slip with the camper though, some hold it fine, others wont hold the power. He may need to turn up the line pressure a little to get it to hold the power.
