It started acting up again today so I decided to take it apart and clean it. It was not too big of a deal, here is what I did... . got the Dremel tool out and "drilled" the back cover off about 1/8 th inch down, pried it out with a small screw driver( imprtant note... dont let the spindle come out, its spring loaded and is most likley very hard to get back in) then I used Q-tips a small piece of paper towel and contact cleaner to clean it out ... here it is. #ad

It has a nice copper bearing and is pretty well made, it just needs to be cleaned and lubed. I used dilectric grease on the contact area and silicon grease on the bearing spot... . then put the conver back on and seal with silicon seal and bingo. !

All back togeather.

not sure how to put pics right in my post. :{

Jim' I never took a TPS apart and realized it has grease in it. Do you think I might be blowing it by cleaning with electronic cleaner, melting out the grease? It has worked though, 174k on my stock TPS with no removal cleaning every 5k.

I sprayed mine out about 6 months ago and its worked till jjust the last few days. and it didnt have much grease in it, I figure taking it apart would be the best, add grease and make sure any sand or dirt gets cleaned out. these are really pretty heavy duty units, they just need to be cleaned! ... . illflem, I dont think you are blowing it to spray it regularly, do it till its bad and then get a new one and feel good about haveing gotten a whole lot more miles from it than you would have other wise. thats the way I see it.
